Is it possible to start the Master Program without following the Certificate Degree Program?
No, a master’s degree requires 33 credit points, of which 18 have been acquired during the Certificate Program.
What is the time investment of the program?
The Summer Schools come with preparatory assignments in the weeks before the two courses start, two intensive weeks of learning and assignments that are to be completed some weeks after. During the Distance Courses, most students spend an average of 8-12 hours a week on course work and group discussions.
How many credit hours does this Master’s program have?
This Master of Science degree requires 33 credits. Each course yields 3 credit hours. As 1.00 US College Credit Hours equals 1.67 European Credits (EC’s), the whole Master program is 55 credit hours in the European system (ECTS).
Is the program fulltime?
No, the program isn’t fulltime. Both the Graduate Certificate and the Master Program are a mix of Summer Schools and Distance Courses.

What is the language in which the program is taught?
Since this is Buffalo State’s distance program in Europe, both the Graduate Certificate Program and the Master Program are in English. To be admitted to the program you need to have sufficient proficiency of the English language. Therefore you must submit a score of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Your letter of intent also serves as a sample of your writing skills.
Is the program accredited by the NVAO, the Accreditation Organization of the Netherlands and Flanders?

Are there any scholarships or grants available?
No, there are not.
In the Netherlands you can subtract the tuition from your income taxes. If you have a company of your own, the tuition is part of your costs. We recommend to explore the possibilities in your country.
When will the program start?
Once a year, in spring, students are admitted into a cohort. Each cohort starts in the summer (generally week 27 and 28).
The next European cohort will start on June 25, 2017 with an orientation in the afternoon. On Monday June 26 the first course of the Summer School will start.
When will the program be finished?
You can run the program in two and a half years. Each cohort starts in the summer and finishes in the winter, two and a half years later. To earn your master’s degree you must have completed 3 elective courses and an approved 25-30 page paper by that time.
What are the requirements to be admitted to the program?
The following is required:
- A baccalaureate degree from an institution that is accredited by an approved U.S. regional accrediting agency or a degree that is equivalent to a four-year bachelor’s degree in the United States;
- A minimum undergraduate grade point average of 2.5 (3.0 preferred) on a 4.0 scale;
- Sufficient proficiency of the English language;
- Five years professional experience.
Furthermore it is essential that you provide insight in what drives you to pursue a graduate degree in Creativity and Change Leadership.
Admission to the program is dependent upon application review by the Buffalo State Graduate School and the Graduate Admissions Committee of ICSC.
When do I know if I am admitted to the program?
For the cohort that will start in the summer of 2017 we expect admission at the beginning of May, 2017.
Are there any courses to help me prepare for this program?
Any baccalaureate degree from an institution that is accredited by an approved U.S. regional accrediting agency or a degree that is equivalent to a four-year bachelor’s degree in the United States, is sufficient to be considered for admission. No specific courses in Creative Thinking or Creative Leadership are required. If you like to dive into the theory of creative thinking and engage with likeminded people, it could be an option to visit a creativity conference like CREA, CPSI, Mindcamp or ECCI.
Is there an exam at the end of a course?
Throughout the program there will be assignments, which you’ll have to fulfill. You will earn the required credit points by fulfilling all assignments of a course. There are no specific exams during the program. As a culminating experience, students can choose to complete their Master program with a Comprehensive Exam or a Master’s Project.
Are there any exemptions?
Independent of previous studies you have to follow all courses of the program to earn your Master’s degree. However, during the Master program you have to complete three elective courses. Sometimes it is possible to remark earlier work or study as an elective course. Such requires approval of the faculty.
