Buffalo State is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104; (215) 662-5606. The Commission on Higher Education is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. secretary of education and the Commission on Recognition of Postsecondary Accreditation. There is a Middle states review of the college every 5 years.
The creativity department falls under Buffalo State’s accreditation. Each college department goes through a self-study every five years to keep this approval. Unlike some academic disciplines that have national or international accrediting bodies, the field of creativity does not have this. However, the International Center for Studies in Creativity has been in existence for 50 years and is the first degree-granting program in the study of creativity.
In addition, the New York State Office of College and Universities Evaluation issues a HEGIS code to approved programs. This is an official acknowledgement that the program is authorized to offer the degree.
